Join us for a guided meditation session with author, counselor, educator, mindfulness and Dharma teacher John Bruna to celebrate the closing of Ugo Rondinone’s exhibition, the rainbow body. For this program, Bruna will give a short teaching and lead a meditation on the Four Immeasurable Attitudes (Brahmavirahs). The Four Immeasurables are practices that open the heart, allowing us to deepen our relationship with ourselves and others. The cultivation of equanimity, loving-kindness, compassion, and empathetic joy helps us to counteract distorted and harmful mental and emotional states. This provides the foundation for living a meaningful and fulfilling life in alignment with one’s own personal spiritual beliefs and values. One does not need to be a Buddhist to benefit from these practices; they are universal to people of all faiths, traditions, and cultures.
John Bruna is a former Buddhist monk in the Tibetan tradition and the spiritual director of the Way of Compassion Foundation. He is also an author, educator, mindfulness trainer and co-founder of the Mindful Life Program. John has presented at TEDx, Google, Facebook, and conferences throughout the United States. He is known for his practicality, humor, depth of experience, and his acclaimed book, The Wisdom of a Meaningful Life.
Please wear cozy clothes, and, if preferred, bring a small pillow to sit on.
