Heaven Opening

Please join Alex Israel, Aspen Art Museum, and Aspen One to celebrate the opening weekend of Heaven, the once-in-a-lifetime art exhibition at the base of Ruthie’s Run on Aspen Mountain.

This exclusively ski-in, ski-out exhibition features over thirty life-size portraits in the building formerly known as Ruthie’s on Aspen Mountain. The entire interior is painted a luminous white and inhabited by over thirty life-size portraits—painted aluminum structures that mimic cardboard cutouts—of celebrities who have died since the launch of Instagram on October 6, 2010. In conjunction with the exhibition, Israel designed the Aspen Mountain 2024–25 season lift ticket, which features a skyscape overlaid with the phrase “Your ticket to Heaven” in dynamic red script, referencing the logo of Heaven: The Supermarket of Pop Culture, a novelty store founded by Brad Benedict in Los Angeles’s Century City Mall in the late 1970s.
